Almost Wordless Wednesday: McDonald’s & Bloggers Have Something To Say!

June 20, 2012 by Laing Leave a Comment

So this Almost Wordless Wednesday is going to be a little more wordy than others. I began this post to pay homage to K. Jackson (60), who stated that she wants to start a blog because in her words “I have something to say!” In watching the TV I saw this McDonald’s commercial for the Blue Berry Banana Nut Oatmeal and it reminded me of K. Jackson. Knowing her spirit K. would strike  up conversation with a stranger, blog about the experience, and have the post go viral!  It was supposed to be an uplifting experience that I could show her the commercial for encouragement and we could sign her up to start blogging! However… when I found the original McDonald’s commercial on YouTube and read the comments posted to the video my heart sank. I didn’t want her to see these nasty comments, some racial and ageist idiotic comments from people who obviously have no better outlet nor tact than to spew venom in a public forum.

I applaud McDonald’s on the efforts to embrace social media and work with bloggers. So in an effort to NOT let the ignorance of others dictate my footsteps, I am posting this video and we are going to launch K. Jackson’s blog because as I told you , she has something to say!

About Laing

In my off line life I am a Banker and Brokerage Associate for a large national bank however I stumbled into finance as a means of job security to provide for my growing family. I am the mother of Tweens; one boy, one girl so I get the best of both adolescent worlds! One of my passions has always been the Arts. Any kind of Art, I love fine art, visual art, recreational art and just innovative ways of viewing the world. My focus while attending Pratt Institute was Advertising and Art Direction. I loved coming up with concepts for products that would alter the way you live your life, view your surroundings, and completely change your perception. Thus comes my love for all types of branding. The BRANDING of individuals, products, and client services. Even in banking we are told to "LIVE THE BRAND" so I came full circle to getting a dose of how our environment and the products and services we use shape us.
